Teaching Philosophy

I just want to say that I am delighted about teaching this year!  Throughout the year I plan on meeting the student's individual needs, while helping them learn and grow as they become young adolescents.  Their journey in middle school is an important time in their lives and I want their experiences in my classroom to help them in the future.  They are at an essential point and I realize that they need guidance and support.  I am going to do all that I can to make this year a success for the students.

In my classroom I will integrate all subjects into science and math.  This enables students to relate one subject to another and realize that all subjects are important.  Students will be part of relevant and engaged learning in the classroom.  I plan on using materials that make science and math relevant to your child’s life and future.  The lessons and activities in class will engage the students and keep them focused on their goals.  Young adolescents also have needs and interest that I want to meet the best way that I know how.  Our school as a whole is strongly based on community and my classroom is as well.  The students will work in teams to build community in the classroom.  They will learn to work well with others and challenge each other to set goals.  I want the students to feel like they are part of a community in school and outside of school.  My classroom will work with the community to make this possible.  We will do a few projects and lab experiments to explore aspects of the community outside of school.  I am very excited to get started!
